The Cool Tunes Manual: Run an Efficient Cooling Tower

We created this manual to help building engineers run their cooling towers more efficiently. An efficient cooling tower uses less water and less energy. The manual covers cooling tower basics, the four key factors to consider while maximizing water efficiency, the reasons for water loss, and new systems that are alternatives to chemical water treatment.

A companion piece to this manual is a set of checklists that help the system operator stay on schedule with maintenance tasks. These checklists cover tasks organized by the frequency with which they should ideally occur as well as tasks that prepare the tower for off-season operation, shut-down, and start-up. It is always recommended that you consult with your regular water treatment service provider prior to undertaking new or unusual activities with regard to your cooling tower.
